Programme of XXIV. SFS
characterize the different years of the summer school. This year the sections are:
Main programme sections:
I. FILM AND THEATRE
in this section, the widest one of this year, we will focus on the relation of these two arts, mainly on · work of the successful movie as well as theatre directors (P.Brook, A.Wajda, I.Bergman, J.Menzel, F.Zaffirelli... atd.)

II. FILM AND VILLAGE
in this section we want to bring up the question of the past, present and mainly the future situation of villages, we want to emphasize the modern civilization impact to the village lifestyle, and the loss of the traditional values. The comparison of the harmony of village social life and the disharmony of individual lifestyle in the city will be considered. (We learned that independently a similar idea arose in Holland, where a project VILLAGE 2000 will be organized, as an opposition to the project CITY 2000 supported by the European Community). This section will include:
· movies concerning the conflict of city and village lifestyles on one hand, as well as movies emphasing the village as a natural source of harmony and common sense (e.g.. Obrazy starého světa, Strom na dřeváky, Listopad, Stíny zapomenutých předku, Nezvaná, Příbuzenstvo, Urga, Balada o Narajami, ...).
III. year 1968
years ending by the number eight played the key role in the history of the twentieth century, one of them being 1968. We do not want to concentrate on Czech history only, but we would like to show the importance of this year, that has been characterized as a "year of the REVOLUTION:, in the world wide context. This year's film festival VIENNA SPECIAL will be dedicated to this topic as well.
IV. Mexican film
in the past years we have started to discover less known cinematographies. This year's choice is a natural consequence of the main sections, mainly FILM AND VILLAGE. We will explore the history of Mexican cinematography, and also the works of famous directors shooting in Mexico will be shown. (Ejzenštejn, L.Buňuel, ...). We are attempting to bring a collection of movies made by the cult Mexican director A.Jodorowsky (who was also a theatre director).
V. 100 years of Czech cinematography
forgotten and less known Czech movies will be shown in this section. We are preparing to show the oldest Czech movies using the original projectors!!! 100 most important Czech actors and actresses will be presented in series of short films. A discussion on the future of Czech cinematography is expected to be very interesting.
STANDARD SECTIONS
These sections are an inseparable part of every SFS.
